Positive Change: Be A Part Of The Greatest Movement In Mankind

by Andrew Ciccone August 17, 2017

With the current political climate, the need for social responsibility is now more important than ever before. When it comes to curbing climate change, there’s one behavior shift that’s more powerful than anything else we can do: Protect Our Water.

Everyone needs to help take back our planet. We can all be heros. It’s important to realize that the future of our country doesn’t rest in the hands of one man. We have more power than we realize. The choices we make in our daily lives can be even more effective than legislation or executive orders or policy positions. And the more of us who take action, the more change we can affect.

“ Here is the truth: The Earth is round; Saddam Hussein did not attack us on 9/11; Elvis is dead; Obama was born in the United States; and the climate crisis is real. ” Al Gore |  45th VP of the United States & Environmentalist

The Trump administration assault on environmental policies has heightened American’s concern that our water is not being protected.  The decision to opt out of the Paris Climate Agreement has increased the public and media’s scrutiny about environmental policies.

Bernie Sanders US Senator from Vermont to Scott Pruitt Then EPA Head Nominee --

“ My office has received a great deal of comments from people ... from all over the country … [who] fear ... Mr. Pruitt [will] protect the fossil fuel industry and not the environment. I would like to ask Mr. Pruitt a question. [Is] Mr. Trump was wrong in suggesting ... that climate change … [is a] “hoax.” Is that in fact the case? “

Every human being deserves to define their own future, and water makes that possible. Help make the world a better place. Despite the critical role water plays for people, it is a surprisingly finite resource. Less than 1% of the world's water is fresh and accessible. Together, we can create a water-secure future.

Here are the TOP TEN Environmental Advocacy Groups Fighting for Clean Water:

    1. CLEAN WATER ACTION
The Clean Water Action’s mission is to protect our environment, health, economic well-being and community quality of life. Clean Water Action organizes strong grassroots groups and coalitions, and campaigns to elect environmental candidates and to solve environmental and community problems.

JOIN CLEAN WATER ACTION and start making a difference for Clean Water.

    2. WATER.ORG
Water is the way. Water will break the cycle of poverty. Water protects and saves lives. Water is what makes a bright future possible for all. Access to safe water can protect and save lives, just because it's there. Access to safe water can turn problems into potential: unlocking education, economic prosperity, and improved health.

“ Clean water is only as far away as the nearest tap, and there are taps everywhere. There's a faucet everywhere. But the reality is, the water in our toilets is cleaner than the water that most people are drinking. “ Matt Damon | Actor & Advocate for Water.

    3. CHARITY: WATER
How do we tackle the water crisis? Charity: Water works with local experts and community members to find the best sustainable solution in each place where we work, whether it’s a well, a piped system, a BioSand Filter, or a system for harvesting rainwater. And with every water point we fund, our partners coordinate sanitation and hygiene training, and establish a local Water Committee to help keep water flowing for years to come. How can we help you?

“ We've poisoned the air, the water, and the land. In our passion to control nature, things have gone out of control. Progress from now on has to mean something different. We're running out of resources and we are running out of time. “ Robert Redford | Actor & Environmentalist.

A stoneware water dispenser filters nasty toxins removing impurities that make the water taste bad. Feel better and stay hydrated drinking fresh clean water.

“ The most patriotic thing you can do is to take care of the environment and try to live sustainably. “ Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. | Environmental Law Attorney.

    4. WATER IS LIFE
WATERisLIFE is about impact, showing donors and supporters how lives are being changed. WATERisLIFE provides clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene education programs to schools and villages in desperate need. The global water crisis can be daunting. We focus on making an impact community by community.

Start your WATERisLIFE Fundraising Campaign to bring Clean Water to those in need.

    5. ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND (EDF)
The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) envisions a future in which water laws, policies and social norms incentivize progress towards sustainability instead of penalizing it. That way, over time, we can ensure that our cities, farming communities and ecosystems become more resilient in the face of climate change and a growing population.

Learn how the EDF can help your community protect your water rights.

    6. THE SIERRA CLUB: Water Sentinels Protecting America's Waters
Water Sentinels envision a country where all communities have access to clean drinking water and where the quality and quantities of water in our rivers, streams, lakes and aquifers are protected and managed to sustain the ecosystems on which all life depends.

The Sierra Club is engaged on a wide range of water issues at the group and chapter level across the country because waterways are easily impacted by pollution, climate, and development. Join Us.

    7. NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY
The National Audubon Society’s Water initiative will focus on landscapes where both water quantity and water quality are paramount to birds’ survival. Affecting public water policies is one key aspect of our work, but policy alone won’t be enough to address these challenging issues.

Audubon and its partners will engage the public on water-management and water-quality issues; restore habitats along rivers, wetlands, and deltas; and explore market based solutions that contribute to the achievement of our water goals.

    8. WORLD WILDLIFE FUND (WWF)
All life needs water. It is the world’s most precious resource. Freshwater habitats—such as lakes, rivers, streams, wetlands and aquifers—house an incredible proportion of the world’s biodiversity.

Protecting freshwater cannot happen alone. WWF partners with governments, businesses, international financial institutions and communities to ensure healthy freshwater systems exist to conserve wildlife and provide a sustainable future for all.

    9. GREENPEACE
Join Green Peace and Fight to Defend Our Oceans
The time to end unsustainable exploitation of our oceans is now. Greenpeace is campaigning to protect the oceans through marine reserves. Globally, less than 1 percent of the ocean is under protection.

Greenpeace is working towards establishing marine reserves in 20 percent of U.S. waters by 2020, double what the country has right now. Marine reserves help replenish fish populations decimated by overfishing, meaning a more sustainable food supply for all of us in the long run.

Learn more about our campaign to the protect the oceans and ways you can get involved.

    10. NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION
Clean water for all wildlife is under attack in the halls of Congress and in our states. The new Clean Water Rule restores important protections to millions of acres of wetlands and millions of miles of streams—waterways that are critical to many other wildlife.

Urge your members of Congress to stand firm against any and all attacks on the new Clean Water Rule and Clean Water Act.

“The threat from climate change is serious, it's urgent, and it's growing.” Barack Obama | 44th President of the United States & Champion for a Better Future.
