Top Five Ways to Keep Your Body Hydrated

Water, there is nothing, truly nothing better for you. Staying hydrated is critical to maintaining good health. Water plays a role in metabolism, cellular function, regulating our body temperature, aiding in digestion, delivering oxygen to our body, lubricates joints, flushes out nasty toxins, helps create hormones and neurotransmitters and transports nutrients to fuel our body. Wow, really cool!

First Thing In The Morning - Sleeping can be dehydrating, so hydrating first thing in the morning is key. Try adding lemon, fresh minced ginger, lime, mint or try any of the variations to your tap water. Drink something warm or hot in the morning to stimulate digestion and bowel movements.

After Breakfast / Before Lunch - The time between meals are key “hydration times”. Have a glass of orange blossom water, or add chia seed to your water to make the moment a little tasty, healthy and special to quench your thirst. You’ll have more energy throughout the day when most people tend to crash and slow down after 3 pm.

After Lunch / Before Dinner - Refresh yourself with another special drink — sparkling water with lemon, kombucha, matcha latte, etc. to begin unwinding and slowing down for the day. What better way to quench your thirst than adding a mix of pineapple and mint or some basil leaves and sliced cucumber to your water pitcher.

In The Evening - Relax, kick your feet up and enjoy a hot cup of tea. Not all tea is the same, look for herbal teas that don’t contain caffeine. If you want to cool down, make tea mocktail (brew your favorite tea,  then adding ice cubes to chill, add sparkling water, fresh sliced strawberries and a little mint) to enjoy a fancy cocktail that tastes delicious and keeps you hydrated!

Hydrate The Night Before A Morning Workout - After spending eight hours sleeping, your body is dehydrated, so drink a few tall glass of that special water a few hours before bed and upon waking, so that your body will be hydrated for your morning workout.

Shower yourself in love. The Sprite High Output HOB-CM-A All Brass Chrome Shower Filter has great polished chrome finish, solid brass construction and water saving 2.5 GPM shower head removes nasty toxins, that rotten egg smell, rust water and even scale from your shower water.

To stay hydrated, you’ll need electrolytes and carbohydrates to help your body absorb whatever fluids you drink. When we sweat our body loses electrolytes which are critical to our health. Electrolytes such as sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and calcium – aid in healthy nerve and muscle function.

What you eat is just as important as staying hydrated. The food you eat can contribute to about  20 percent of your daily fluid intake. Many foods such as melon, tomatoes and strawberries – are naturally rich in water, carbohydrates and minerals, including necessary electrolytes.

Every time you go to the bathroom, take a look at your urine color, examining the color can give you a good idea of how well hydrated you are. If it’s pale-yellow in color, most likely you are getting enough fluids. Dark yellow urine typically indicates you are dehydrated and need more water. If it’s too clear, you’re drinking too much.

It’s easy not to drink as much as you usually do when you’re on the go. Make a conscious decision to pack a reusable water flask with you no water where you go. Hectic work schedules can easily distract you from staying hydrated. Soft drinks are not healthy and do a poor job at rehydration. Start thinking smart and stay away from soda all together.

Spring, summer, winter or fall, it super smart to keep your body hydrated. Make some simple lifestyle changes to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Do you have any tips on how to quench your body’s thirst?
