It does not add chemicals to the source water, nor does it remove the healthful minerals that are naturally occurring in it. The system does not require electricity to operate. Nor does it consume water for the purpose of backwashing or regeneration. It does not require the addition of any chemicals to operate. The water flows through the media vessel in an up-flow direction resulting in no adverse effect on the building’s water pressure. For optimum results your water should be free of hydrogen sulfide (sulfur gas / rotten egg smell), prior to entering our Pelican NaturSoft™ NS6 Salt-Free Water Softener Conditioner System. The sulfur will coat the surface of the media and will interfere reducing its efficiency. If any iron or manganese is present in the source water, the media will cause it to be oxidized. If any of these issues exist, you should employ pre-treatment prior to using this technology.
